Encompass Vending began back in 1951 as Smiley's - Mel's Coin. Started by Wilber "Smiley" Schaut and Mel Malcore. Smiley bought out Mel in 1971, keeping the name, and running the business himself.
In 1974 Smiley brought in his son in law Tom Piontek. Tom and his wife Jeanne run the routes and day-to-day operations until Tom's passing in 1984. Tom can be credited with bringing electronic darts into Green Bay in 1974.
Tom and Jeanne began dart leagues and dart tournaments throughout the Green Bay area.
After Tom's death in 1984 Smiley was once again running the vending company. He and Jeanne ran the company together until 1990 when it was turned over to Jeanne and her children Lisa, Andy, and Jim.
in 2015 the business was then turned over to Andy and Jim full time.
Andy and Jim changed the name to Encompass Vending Inc. While still being focused on electronic darts, pool tables, pinball, videos, and juke boxes they branched out into ATMs, POS systems and credit card processing.
To this day Andy and Jim are still running the company. They have started running dart leagues again and became a charter franchisee of NADO, the North American Dart Organization, which offers players reward points the more they play. Pinball leagues and tournaments are next on the agenda for this expanding company.
